Week 37 Day 3
they are a major part of the Gospel account
what would be left without them?
then and now
needs a miracle
of some kind
Miracles were done to catch people's attention
and help them believe
They were a good work
a work of goodness
that Jesus came from God
Miracles were done because Jesus had compassion
on human suffering
Jesus was able to restore life
to the way
it was meant to be
Miracles showed Jesus to be
Lord and Master of all creation
The forces of nature stopped
their natural course
and obeyed the commands of Jesus.
Expect a miracle
there is healing and wholeness
abundance amid scarcity
life in the midst of death.
When people crowd into your peace and quiet, feed them!
7Jesus called the twelve and began to send them out two by
two, and gave them power over unclean spirits. 12They went
out and preached that people should repent. 13They cast out
demons, anointed many who were sick, and healed them.
14King Herod heard of Jesus, for His name had become well
known. And he said, "John the Baptist is risen from the dead." 15Others said, "It is Elijah." And others said, "It is the Prophet, or like one of the prophets." 16But Herod said, "This is John, whom I beheaded; he has been raised from the dead!"
30The apostles gathered to Jesus and told Him all things, both what they had done and what they had taught. 31He said to them, "Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while." For there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat. 32So they departed to a deserted place in the boat by themselves.
33But the multitudes saw them departing, and many ran there
on foot from all the cities, arriving before them. 34Jesus, when
He came, saw a great multitude and was moved with compassion
for them, because they were like sheep not having a shepherd.
So He began to teach them. 35When the day was far spent, His
disciples came to Him and said, "This is a deserted place, and
already the hour is late. 36Send them away, that they may go
into the surrounding country and villages and buy themselves
bread; for they have nothing to eat."
37But He answered them, "You give them something to eat."
They said to Him, "Shall we go and buy two hundred denarii
worth of bread and give them something to eat?"
38He said to them, "How many loaves do you have? Go and see." When they found out they said, "Five, and two fish."
39Jesus commanded them to make them all sit down in groups
on the green grass. 40So they sat down in ranks, in hundreds
and in fifties. 41When He had taken the five loaves and the two
fish, He looked to heaven, blessed and broke the loaves, and gave
them to His disciples to set before them; and the two fish He
divided among them all. 42They all ate and were filled. 43And
they took up twelve baskets full of fragments and of the fish.
44Those who had eaten the loaves were about five thousand men.
53When they had crossed over, they came to Gennesaret and
anchored. 54 Immediately people recognized them and began to
carry on beds those who were sick to wherever they heard He was. This Bible passage was condensed from the NKJV
