Week 36 Day 4
how do you feel about the following people
we see and hear about them on the news
they are so many
their problems so great
they seem so far away
they evoke short-lived emotions
they are reported on like a mass of statistics
they cannot repay what you give them
have you met them or known them personally
the person who receives from the food bank
the person so thirsty for meaning in their life
the person whom no one ever calls by name
the person so sick there is a stench
the person whose every defense has been stripped away
the person who feels the world has forgotten them
that whenever we have seen these people
we have seen him
that whenever we minister to these people
we have ministered to him
God help us to love people
in the way in which
they need to be loved
READINESS AND REWARD
Judgment day is characterized by a door no longer open.
1"The kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who
took lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. 2Five were wise,
and five were foolish. 3Those who were foolish took their lamps
and took no oil with them, 4but the wise took oil in their vessels
with their lamps. 5While the bridegroom delayed, they all slept.
6"At midnight a cry was heard: 'The bridegroom is coming:
go out to meet him!' 7The virgins arose and trimmed their lamps.
8The foolish said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil, for our
lamps are going out.' 9But the wise answered, saying, 'No, lest
there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those
who sell, and buy for yourselves.'
10"While they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those
who were ready went in with him; and the door was shut.
11Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, 'Lord, Lord, open to us!' 12But he answered, 'Assuredly, I say, I do not know you.' 13Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.
31"When the Son of Man comes in His glory, 32then all the
nations will be gathered before Him. He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats.
33He will set the sheep on His right hand; the goats on the left.
34"Then the King will say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you
blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you;
35for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you
gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was
naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me;
I was in prison and you came to Me.'
37"The righteous will answer Him, 'Lord, when did we see
You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink?
38When did we see You a stranger, or naked? 39Or when did
we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You? 40The King
will answer them, 'Assuredly. I say to you, inasmuch as you did
it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.'
41"Then He will say to those on the left, 'Depart from Me,
42for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and
you gave no drink; 43 I was a stranger and you did not take
Me in; naked and you did not clothe Me; sick and in prison and
you did not visit. 45 Inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the
least of these, you did not do it to Me.' 46These will go away
into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life." This Bible passage was condensed from the NKJV
