Week 31 Day 3
we may know many things be the repository of a lot of facts possess a deep well of information we may be able to present a very persuasive intellectual argument but unless we are also convinced emotionally and spiritually we remain essentially unconvinced the prophet Jeremiah spoke about the law of God written on our hearts so that we may not only give an intellectual assent to something but
that we may be so persuaded of the goodness and grace of God that we will act upon those gifts and let those treasures of God live in us is there still something
God is trying to write on your heart reveal to you persuade you of that you need to receive
TO THE PALACE Righteousness needs to start at the top
with the king and officials. Jeremiah 22 & 31
1Thus says the Lord: 2"Hear, O king of Judah, you who sit
on the throne of David, you and your servants and your people
who enter these gates! 3Execute judgment and righteousness,
and deliver the plundered out of the hand of the oppressor. Do
no wrong and do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, or
the widow, nor shed innocent blood in this place. 4 If you listen
to these words, then kings who sit on the throne of David shall enter this house, riding on horses and in chariots, accompanied by servants and people. 5But if you will not hear, then this house shall become a desolation. 6"You are Gilead to Me, the head of Lebanon; yet I surely
will make you a wilderness, cities which are not inhabited.
8Many nations will pass by and everyone will say to his neighbor,
'Why has the Lord done so to this great city?' 9Then they will
answer, 'Because they have forsaken the covenant of the Lord
their God, and worshiped other gods and served them.'
13"Woe to him who builds his house by unrighteousness
and his chambers by injustice, who uses his neighbor's service
without wages, and gives him nothing for his work,
14who says, 'I will build myself a wide and spacious house,
and cut out windows for it, paneling it with cedar.'
15Shall you reign because you enclose yourself in cedar?
Did not your father eat and drink, and do justice and righteousness?
16He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well.
Was not this knowing Me?" says the Lord.
17"Yet your eyes and your heart are for nothing but
your covetousness, for shedding innocent blood;
and practicing oppression and violence."
31"Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will
make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the
house of Judah--32not according to the covenant that I made
with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead
them out of the land of Egypt. 33But this is the covenant: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 34No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, 'Know the Lord,' for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the Lord. I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more." This Bible passage was condensed from the NKJV
