Week 33 Day 4
the Holy Spirit can come in power and peace
upon anyone at any place and at any time
the Spirit called Samuel in a time
when the word of the Lord was rare
the Psalmist discovered there was nowhere
he could go but that the Spirit was there
the prophet Joel proclaimed that God
would pour out his Spirit on all people
the baptism of Jesus saw the Spirit
descend upon him like a dove
the Spirit is not dependent
upon our worthiness to receive
nor determined by the times
in which we live
our spirit needs to be receptive
to the Spirit already among us
the mighty wind
the still small voice
the glowing flame
the joyous language
the shower of blessing
the kind embrace
God's holy breath and life in us

RESTORATION
Faith and hope lead to excitement and expectancy.
Joel 2
15Blow the trumpet, consecrate a fast, call a sacred assembly;
16Gather the people, sanctify the congregation,
Assemble the elders, gather the children and nursing babes;
Let the bridegroom go out from his chamber,
And the bride from her dressing room.
17Let the priests of the Lord weep. Let them say,
"Spare Your people, O Lord, and do not give reproach.
Why should they say, 'Where is their God?'"
18Then the Lord will be zealous, and pity His people.
19The Lord will answer and say,
"Behold, I will send you grain and new wine and oil,
And you will be satisfied by them;
I will no longer make you a reproach among the nations.
20"I will remove far from you the northern army,
And will drive him away into a barren and desolate land,
With his face to the eastern sea and his back to the western sea;
His stench will come up, and his foul odor will rise,
Because he has done monstrous things."
21Fear not, O land; rejoice for the Lord has done marvelous things!
22Do not be afraid, for open pastures are springing up,
The tree bears its fruit; the fig tree and vine also yield.
23Be glad then, children of Zion, and rejoice in your God;
He will cause the rain to come down for you.
24The threshing floors shall be full, the vats shall overflow.
25"I will restore to you the years the swarming locust has eaten,
The crawling, the consuming, and the chewing locust,
My great army which I sent among you.
26You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, and praise the Lord
Who has dealt wondrously with you. 27Then you will know that
I am the Lord your God and there is no other.
28"Afterward I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
Your old men shall dream dreams, your young men see visions.
Also on My men and maid servants I will pour out My spirit.
30"I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth:
Blood and fire and pillars of smoke.
31The sun shall be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood,
Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord.
32"And whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
There shall be deliverance, as the Lord has said."
